What does Microsoft Say? Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel 2016 support inserting and editing scalable vector graphics (.SVG) files in your documents, presentations and workbooks. SVG is an open standard that was established in 1999. Word, PowerPoint and Excel Mobile for Windows 10, or Android support inserting .SVG files in your documents, presentations and workbooks. This update was released November 2016. If you don’t see these updates in your Office 2016, speak to your Admin about the company’s release preferences on Office 365.

Open your SVG file:

Simply click and drag your SVG file onto your document (whether it be PowerPoint, Word or Excel):

When you select the file, the Format tab will have the following options:

  1. Graphics Fill
  2. Graphics Outline
  3. Graphics Effects

Edit your SVG file:

By using the above, I was able to change and add fill colours, outlines, 3D and shadow:
