PowerPoint now has preset styles you can use to apply formatting on shapes. Soon everyone will run out of excuses for not being creative. Microsoft is making it too easy not to be creative.

Setting the transparency on Objects:
I use this often to set the banner transparency for my featured images. Below is how I used to do it (until today).
- Right-click on Shape
- Format Shape
- Set transparency under the Fill option
Using Presets in formatting:
When you click on a shape, click on the Format Tab, Theme Styles dropdown. At the bottom you’ll see Presets. These are in actual fact transparent shapes you can easily pick with predefined font formatting. Other Theme Fills also allows for some further formatting.
