We’re busy with the Media and Content Categories (Web Parts), today we’re looking at Picture Library Slideshow Web Parts. This web part allows you to point to an existing library of images, which will scroll through while on the page.
Content Editor | Allows authors to enter rich text content. |
Get started with your site | This web part displays a set of tiles with common SharePoint actions. |
Image Viewer | Displays a specified image. |
Media Web Part | Use to embed media clips (video and audio) in a web page. * |
Page Viewer | Displays another Web page on this Web page. The other Web page is presented in an IFrame. |
Picture Library Slideshow Web Part | Use to display a slideshow of images and photos from a picture library. |
Script Editor | Allows authors to insert HTML snippets or scripts. |
Silverlight Web Part | A web part to display a Silverlight application. |
- Add the Picture Library Slideshow Web part to your page
- Edit the web part
- Point this web part to your Picture Library
- Configure the web part
- I’ve changed the duration (timing)
- Selected my banner library
- Left it on Random Order
- Removed the display and title toolbars
- Under Appearance I renamed the Web part to “Daily Quote”
In this example I’ve loaded some of the Academy’s daily quotes. Ensure that your images are all the same size or the web part will keep on resizing during the slideshow.
Pretty cool to use as banner / quote web parts:

Overview of my challenge: As an absolute lover of all things Microsoft, I’ve decided to undertake the challenge, of writing a blog every single day, for the next 365 days. Crazy, I know. And I’ll try my best, but if I cannot find something good to say about Office 365 and the Tools it includes for 365 days, I’m changing my profession. So let’s write this epic tale of “Around the Office in 365 Days”. My ode to Microsoft Office 365.
Keep in mind that these tips and tricks do not only apply to Office 365 – but where applicable, to the overall Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
